Shaping the Future: Building a More Public AI Ecosystem at the Library of Congress

I recently had the opportunity to join a group of innovators, policymakers, and thought leaders at the Library of Congress for the “Building a More Public AI Ecosystem” event. This gathering couldn't have come at a more critical time, just days before the Democratic National Convention, where AI would take center stage as a key issue.

The discussions at the Library of Congress were not just about the technical aspects of AI but about something much larger—the need to ensure that AI development serves the public good. From the keynote by Lawrence Lessig to the expert panel on “AI in the Agencies,” the emphasis was clear: AI must remain transparent, accessible, and accountable to all.

This event laid the groundwork for the conversations that would unfold at the DNC, highlighting the urgent need to integrate public interest into the fabric of AI innovation. The insights gained here were not just timely but necessary as we look ahead to how AI will shape our society and our democracy.
